Hi Paul.
Thanks for the question. It was a long time since I was at school and college 😊 but I don’t recall attending any careers fairs.
The best career advice I got was from my A Level Media Studies teacher. I knew I liked communication, but I didn’t know what careers were available. He recommended I look at Bournemouth University as it had a great Marketing and Communication faculty. From there I found out about Public Relations and did my own research into the career. I then opted for the PR degree that included an industrial placement year, and this gave me the experience and contacts to begin a successful career.
So, I would recommend getting career advice from as many different people and places as possible. I have also seen career fairs in shopping centres so look out for those too.
Hope that's helpful.
