I risked a master's in a disliked field, couldn't have worked better.
I completed my bachelor's in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. Despite disliking Electrical Engineering module during college, limited opportunities for women in instrumentation in India led me to pursue a master's in a different field. After thorough research, I chose Electrical Power and Energy Systems for its renewable energy, sustainability, and asset management modules. It turned out to be a great decision, as I found numerous opportunities in the UK, enjoyed the course, and graduated with a job in the railway industry. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

"Take advantage of every opportunity life offers"
Be proactive and open to new experiences, even if they seem challenging or outside your comfort zone. It involves recognizing the potential in every situation and making the most of it to grow personally and professionally. By embracing opportunities, you can discover new interests, develop skills, and achieve goals you might not have thought possible. It's about being courageous, adaptable, and optimistic, always ready to turn possibilities into realities.
Engaging in fascinating projects and having the chance to learn.
Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to be part of several diverse projects, each contributing to my growth and experience. One of my most significant achievements was redesigning an Environment handbook. This project was particularly rewarding as it allowed me to take an existing resource and transform it into something more effective and user-friendly. The process involved extensive research and creative thinking, to ensure the handbook met the needs of its users.
In addition to this, I conducted a climate change adaptation study on various assets. This study was crucial in understanding how different assets could be affected by climate change and what measures could be implemented to mitigate these effects. It was a comprehensive project that required detailed analysis and strategic planning.
I also contributed to oil spill data collection, which was an essential task for monitoring and managing environmental risks. This involved gathering and analyzing data to help develop strategies for preventing and responding to oil spills.
Furthermore, I had the chance to write the "What is Sustainability" content for the upskilling PowerApp for the Environment & Sustainable Development Team. This content was designed to educate and inform team members about sustainability practices and principles, helping to foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.
Overall, these projects have been incredibly fulfilling and have provided me with valuable experience and insights. They have also reinforced my commitment to environmental sustainability and my desire to continue contributing to meaningful projects in this field.
