Hi Vishva, I'm so glad you're looking at rail as a career change. I did exactly the same, came from a different industry and joined System Operator as an Operational Planner.
Without more information on what you're finding confusing with the job role it's hard for me to help, but the key parts are reading through the "who are we looking for" and "what does the average day look like" in the advert and seeing if that sounds like something you'd like to do.
Then using the Essential Skills listed (the bullet points) to see if you've got the criteria we're looking for. If you're working in care at the moment I'd expect that your problem solving and verbal communication skills are exceptional, so it's working out what transferrable skills you have which are applicable to the role you're applying for. We'll give you training in the specifics of the job but the Essential Skills and Experience are what we're looking for you to already have and bring with you.
