Operational Incident Controller
I believe you are inquiring about how to manage shift work alongside daily life. I would like to share my personal experience.
Currently, I work 12-hour shifts with a maximum of 36 hours scheduled per week, which provides me with significant quality time with my family, a priority for me. On workdays, my routine involves going to work, returning home for a brief period with my family, and then repeating this for three consecutive shifts. The rest of the week is reserved for other activities.
I find that shift work suits me well, as it allows me to complete my work commitments efficiently and then enjoy my personal time. In my opinion, shift work is far more advantageous than a traditional 7-hour, five-day workweek.
I hope this information is helpful.

Well thanks Mr. D, for the input. I believe as an Operational Incident Manager (Controller) you are more on rail and on the ground with the crew/team member?
Is the 12-hours including overtime, if incident occurs or callouts for outdoor duties?

Operational Incident Controller
Hi,
Your assumption is not correct with myself now being an incident controller I am based within the control centre giving direction and support to the operational teams on the ground.
My 12 hrs shifts do not include overtime and allow me to complete my 36hr working week in three days allowing as I previously mention good quality home time.
